Week 8: Training Triumph

Hi everyone!

Yet another fantastic session for week 8! The weather was perfect today, and it was wonderful to be out on the courts. With only 2 weeks left, our players are gearing up for our final tournament in week 10.

Up until now, we've focused on consistency, the cornerstone of tennis. Today, we introduced the other two pillars: power and placement.

Our intermediate players experienced an exciting round of match play today with tournament-style singles matches against their peers. They learned correct footwork, court positioning, scoring, and most importantly, strategies to win singles games. They also tested their stamina in mini sets, aiming to win a first-to-four games match.

Meanwhile, our beginner players engaged in short-court singles and doubles match play, emphasizing control over power and shot placement. They also honed their volley skills and footwork through targeted drills at the start of the session.

To celebrate our players' hard work, we enjoyed nut-free chocolate chip cookies at the end of the session! This week’s homework is to practice the three pillars of tennis—consistency, placement, and then power—through match play with a partner.

We're eagerly anticipating the tournament in two weeks and excited to witness our players' progress on their tennis journey! 🎾🎾🎾
