Week 5: Rally Ready

Hello!

We’re halfway through the season, and the kids are looking amazing! As their forehand and backhand techniques improve, we're seeing progress in the quality and length of points during games, especially for the intermediates. Plus, as the kids get to know each other better, the friendly competition is becoming even more enjoyable!

Today’s focus was rallying, where we aimed to sustain points for the longest duration while maintaining correct form. After warming up with some basic drills, the beginners worked on forehand-to-forehand rallies and then moved on to short court hitting with a partner. Shoutout to Sreekar (aka Steph) who got 24 forehands in a row! Towards the end, we practiced shot placement with cones and introduced a new game called "Target Practice." :)

The intermediates focused on full court rallying, both cross court and down-the-line, along with volley practice drills. We played a game of singles, which turned quite competitive with some extended points. We’re excited to teach the students more about doubles match play and serving in the future. We ended the session with a group game of knockout.

Despite the weather, today was one of our best sessions, and we’re looking forward to what the rest of the season brings!
